New Metric Guidance for School Districts I wanted to update you all on the most recent guidance from the Governor and the Kentucky Department for Public Health. The Governor announced Monday that his office will not make another recommendation to school districts after September 28th about holding in-person or virtual classes, instead, a new metric will be used to assist with these decisions. The Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) has created a four-color metric to guide school districts and administration in deciding whether to offer in person, virtual or hybrid instruction amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The metric provides school districts with the data needed for decision-making at the local district level. As long as the state’s positivity rate stands at less than 6%, the metric will be used to give guidance for local decision-making on instruction and athletics. The state positivity rate and a map of incidence by county can be found at www.kycovid19.ky.gov. Decisions on school instruction and activity for each coming week should be based on the color level at 8 p.m. ET each Thursday. The color-coded system recommends specific mitigation measures based on levels of disease transmission. The four levels are: Green, with fewer than one case per 100,000 county residents, means schools can hold either in-person or remote classes as long as schools are following the Healthy at School guidance. Gov. Beshear’s guidance on group gatherings and other standard precautions still must be followed. Sports may resume if Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) guidelines are followed. Yellow, with 9.9 or fewer cases per 100,000 people, also allows in-person or remote learning and sports, but with heightened mitigation steps as coordinated by local officials, school administrators and public health leaders. Orange, with 24.9 or fewer cases per 100,000, means schools should take into account a variety of factors to determine if they should move to remote learning exclusively. Sports still would be allowed, but there must be strict adherence to health guidelines. Small groups of students may be allowed into schools for targeted services. Red, for more than 25 cases per 100,000, means schools should move the following week to all-virtual instruction. Sports and all extracurricular activities must be suspended. Only essential staff should regularly be in school buildings, still adhering to Healthy at School guidance. Essential student support services, such as providing meals, should continue. Small groups of students can be allowed in schools for targeted services. All these measures should remain in effect until the community returns to yellow status at a future Thursday decision point. School Districts will operate based on the color of their county as indicated on the state map. Link to map: https://govstatus.egov.com/kyc... New Emergency Regulation Issued A new emergency administrative regulation from DPH, signed by Gov. Beshear, requires those responsible for students – parents, guardians, or other caregivers – to notify their child’s schools within 24 hours if a student tests positive for COVID-19. Schools are then required to notify DPH each school day of the number of students and school personnel who test positive for COVID-19. The results that school districts report will be posted to an online dashboard, which can be filtered by county, district, or specific school. Those reports will include the number of positive cases reported and number quarantined due to possible exposure among both students and school personnel. Schools also will be required to provide detailed information on any positive student cases to the local health department to enable contact tracing. The data made public on the daily report dashboard will not disclose the identity of students or school personnel. Health departments will need names and contact information, but that will be collected through private, in-person discussion between health officials and schools. The public dashboard can be accessed at www.kycovid19.ky.gov. The COVID-19 Mode of Instruction Metrics for K-12 Education can be viewed here: https://chfs.ky.gov/agencies/d... Please let us know what questions or concerns you may have as it relates to the new metric guidance. This tiered response approach will enable school districts to make decisions that are more directly aligned with their community and county data. Thank you for your continued support! #weareTC

Childcare on NTI Fridays In-person Instruction will begin on Monday, September 28th for all students that selected this option. In-person students will attend school Monday through Thursday, and every Friday we will implement a district-wide Non-Traditional Instructional Day (Raider Day). Milton Elementary School and Bedford Elementary School will provide NTI Day Childcare on Fridays from 7:45am to 3:15pm beginning the Friday after Fall Break (10/16/2020). This service is available to students in grades K-6 that are enrolled for in-person learning and whose parents/guardians work outside of the home. Parents are responsible for student transportation. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided to childcare students. Any child that needs to stay beyond 3:15pm, our after school ACES program will be an option. ACES operates daily at MES and BES from 3:15pm to 6:00pm for $8/day. The $8 fee is for ACES only, there is not a cost for NTI Childcare. In the event, we have to close our facilities to in-person instruction, NTI Childcare will not be available. This is only a provided service while in-person instruction is permissible. To request NTI childcare, go to the following link, complete the form and submit it by September 30, 2020. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdHIg4-gFcNB4tXCBuzucQsXHscZ-Iob2GroS0dLIKWhAITVQ/viewform?usp=sf_link If you have questions about our reopening plans, please feel free to contact your child’s school or the Trimble Co. To our TC Students and Families—We were disheartened with the Governor’s most recent recommendation and want nothing more than to see our students in-person and resume school functions and activities. We wholeheartedly believe our students need to return to school in person as soon as that option is safe to do so - but until then, we remain committed to providing meaningful learning experiences for all students. We also want our students safe, our employees safe and our community safe. We are committed to the community we serve, and feel compelled to do everything possible to support our students academically, socially, and emotionally. More details will emerge from the Kentucky Department of Education and the Kentucky Department for Public Health over the next few weeks, providing us with more information and updated guidance. However, we know that at this time, we are permitted to meet in person with students in small groups, such as hosting “introductory” meetings for a few students at a time to meet their new teachers, etc. This is especially important for young children and for students who are transitioning to a new school. This is not the way we had envisioned the start of this school year but we’re going to give it the best we can to continue serving the students in this community….. OUR COMMUNITY and the TC that we love. Thank you for your continued support as we work together on behalf of the children of Trimble County. We realize that many of our parents/guardians work and are not home on Fridays and we do not want this to be a barrier to any of our families that selected the in-person option. Therefore, MES and BES will provide NTI Day Childcare every Friday from 8:00am to 3:15pm. This service is available to students in grades K-6 that opted for in-person learning. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided and the Healthy At School Guidelines will be followed. For any child that needs to stay beyond 3:15pm, our after school ACES program will still be an option. ACES operates daily at MES and BES from 3:15pm to 6:00pm for $8/day. The cost is for ACES only, there is not a cost for NTI Childcare. In the event that we are forced to close our facilities to in-person instruction, NTI Childcare will not be available. This is only a provided service while in-person instruction is permissible. As always, Trimble County Public Schools will continue to monitor the situation, reassess procedures and make changes as needed and/or recommended by local, state and federal authorities. As the pandemic evolves, our staff continues to revisit and improve our reopening plans to ensure that we can provide the safest in-person instructional opportunities possible for our families that have selected this option. Please keep in mind that TCPS wants to keep students’ education as uninterrupted as possible and all efforts are being made to provide an equitable, quality educational experience for all of our students regardless of the setting.

In-Person Schedule Change Good Morning TC Students and Families, As of today we have had 89% of our population complete the “Return to School” survey and currently 32% of our students have selected the at home virtual learning option. Because we have approximately one-third of our students that will be learning from home, we recognize that it will be necessary to provide support to our educational staff to have adequate time to plan, prepare, connect and communicate with our virtual students. In order to do this, we will implement a district-wide Non-Traditional Instructional Day (Raider Day) every Friday beginning September 4, 2020. So what does this mean for me and my family? This change will have no effect on virtual students and families because these students will already be doing their learning from home each school day. For in person students, this means that students in grades K-12 will attend school physically Monday through Thursday, however, Fridays will be Non-Traditional Instructional (NTI) days, and students will complete their lessons from home. All Trimble County School Staff will be reporting to work on NTI Fridays so therefore, teachers will be accessible to all students, virtual and in-person students for any support they may need on these days.

Happy Friday TC Students and Families, The countdown is on…. we are officially just a little under a month away from the start of a new school year! We know this year is going to look different from years past, but we are excited and eager to get the school year underway and see our students again! We just want to remind you that we need all families that have not completed the “return to school” survey, to please do so today. This is very important information that is necessary for our planning, concerning in-person class sizes, staffing needs and making accommodations to the facilities. To access the survey and make your selection, please visit: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZNSS9GM Next week, please be on the lookout for information concerning: On-line Student Registration, Student Schedules & Class Assignments, Chromebook Distribution and Orientation for Kindergarten & Seventh grade students. We will also be asking families that have selected the virtual option for their child(ren) to select either Option 1A – Teacher Facilitated Online Learning or Option 1B – Self-Paced Online Learning. If you have questions about these options, please contact the school or refer to this informational document: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Gctey2v4kC5WZqL507mTXsWe0XpSFMIy/view?usp=sharing As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns that you may have…we are here to help! #weareTC

Instructional Options: Virtual or In-Person with Internet Information This document defines the virtual and in-person options available for our students this coming school year. There were many families that voiced concerns about not having the internet…we listened, took note and have developed solutions to this problem. With the proposed plans in this document, families DO NOT have to have the internet to select a virtual option. We did not want this to be a barrier in making this tough decision. We realize this is a difficult decision, but please know that we respect and support the decisions that you make in determining the best way to educate your child. There is not a wrong or right answer, and I hope that our community will show compassion, regardless of the decisions made by families and the decisions that are made on behalf of the school system. WE are a team! We ask that after you review all of the information, please determine which option is best for your family and complete the survey below by July 31, 2020. Trimble County Schools Returning to School Survey for Students/Families: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZNSS9GM Also, please know that these plans are subject to change as we monitor the cases in our community and the state. We appreciate your support and cooperation, as we get ready for the 2020-21 school year. Good morning TC students and families. We recognize the lack of Internet service in our community continues to be a barrier for some of our families. We are diligently working to find multiple solutions to assist those families that feel selecting the virtual option for the upcoming school year is in their child's best interest. I ask for your patience as we work through this challenge. We plan to get this information to you and still allow your family ample time to thoroughly review your options before you make a definitive decision about selecting either the in-person option or the virtual option. This morning, we finalized the districts "Healthy At School" guidance document that outlines tiered response plans for the district based on the COVID cases in our school and district. The calendar can be viewed here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fuSoQuboJNeuYnXYlA72tikvs2pB2Zf8/view?usp=sharing The calendar will go before the Board of Education for approval at the July meeting. The proposed calendar is very similar to our previous academic calendars except for a delayed start date for students. We will be sharing specific information next week concerning the "Healthy At School" guidance document that was just released. Regardless of the challenges we are faced with, in regards to planning for the upcoming school year, our team is willing, ready, able and committed..... happily committed, to making the necessary accommodations to meet the needs of our students and this community! #weareTC
